Questions About Sabbath Keeping
This Page is set aside for discussion of the Sabbath. Does God prefer a particular day to be set aside for a day of rest? If so what day is it, and if not how would you support your comment?

Looking at our calendar and noticing that Saturday is the 7th day reminded me to read the 10 commandments where I noticed that that God tells us to keep Saturday holy by not engaging in income producing labor on that day in honor to God as the Creator.
As years went by in my learning of the Scriptures I am left with the impression that Jesus was that Creator. Why then do some Christians earn a living on Saturday and rest on Sunday?

It is my understanding that the Law (including the Sabbath) pointed to Jesus. We are commanded to rest in him. He is our Sabbath. We cannot labor and gain eternal life. Only by resting in him do we have life. Our rest does not pertain to a day. Resting or working on any particular day is a physical matter, not spiritual. We can use any day to honor our Creator for he created them all. I choose not to judge those who cease labor on Saturday or Sunday. To the Lord they rest or work. It is enough for me to labor to enter into his rest and there remain.
